Leading People or being part of high functioning teams can be challenging at times and yet also rewarding, inspirational and invigorating, and yet sometimes stressful and for those low in Emotionally Intelligence it often leads to burnout.  

According to Daniel L. Goleman the competencies of an Emotionally Intelligent Professional include:
  • Self Awareness
  • Self Management
  • Social Awareness
  • Relationship Management
Each has skills within those competencies that must be achieved and embodied to becoming an EI competent professional.

Resilience requires emotional self-awareness and yet self-awareness cannot be improved without consistent daily reflection. To strengthen individuals resilience requires competency across 12 areas of emotional intelligence. This is best undertaken with a coach who challenges a person to adopt the behaviours that lead to mastery of flexibility, adaptability, self-management and self-leadership. It in an inside-out job. 

Influencing others, coaching & mentoring, or being effective in conflict management requires high levels of relationship management and again to achieve competency across each of those is required as being low in some and high in others will in itself create chaos and be disruptive during time of stress and pressure.
