Becoming a Consciously Awakened Leader
A conscious leader is someone others can aspire to become more like, are you such a leader?
People value conscious leadership more deeply than we tend to speak openly about. Often it's much easier to name what we do not like about someone's leadership style, such as calling out 'an asshole leader' than to be open about celebrating a person who is behaving more like a genuine and conscious leader and so we often focus on what we do not like and forget to focus on what we do like and embody it for ourselves.
So, what does conscious leadership look like?
Someone who behaves more consciously is valued for their genuineness, robustness and compassion. We are drawn to their emotional intelligence and their agility to respond to challenging situations, have frank, open and direct conversation and we tend to experience such leaders as being solid in themselves too. They model an inner strength that is considerate, powerful yet not forceful. Such leaders are self-motivated and typically have a world-centric view and they own the impact their decisions do have on those they lead, their customers, the planet and all life forms is liberating.
They are powerful, not forceful, in flow rather than forging, yet create space for great things to emerge, evolve and exist for the greater good.
Research shows that emotionally agile leaders are less prone to burn-out, have lower levels of stress and enjoy a happier life and richer relationships. Conscious leadership is more than being aware of ones actions, values or decisions and desires, it's also being conscientious about their decisions and actions and the impacts they have on their team, their customers and the planet.
Emotionally intelligent leaders have a higher capacity for being honestly self-awareness, this is the realness others experience in a conscious leader. How self-aware are you?
- As a leader, how high do you rate your emotional intelligence (EI) 0-10?
- How high would others rate your EI - 0-10?
- Are you the kind of leader that others aspire to be more like and why specifically?
- How mindful are you moment to moment about your impact on those you're leading?
- Can you put your hand on your heart and say 'Yes, I am someone who models conscious leadership'?
- Why are you in a leadership role?
- Do you inspire those you lead through metaphors and vivid visions, trusting in their capacity to deliver, or do you try to control each working day for your people?
- When making decisions that impact on your people, customers and the Planet, do you consider how your decision will effect them in the short, medium and long term? Or, is it more about your bonuses and how you'll be perceived by those above you?
When making decisions, do you:
- Base it solely on the numbers, facts and status-quo?
- Listen to your intuition?
- Feel into your heart's compassion and kindness?
- Consider the emotional reactions of those either above you or perhaps below you?
Values
- Do you know what your core values are?
- Can you name the values of the organisation or business you're working in?
- Are they aligned or do they clash in some areas?
- Would your customers and staff say that you lead aligned to the values they hold in high regard? Or might they view you as being 'unethical'?
What culture are you creating? Is it conscious, unconscious, mindful, masterful, disorganised, unhappy?
It's important to remember that any workplace culture begins with its leaders and flows downwards into the organisation; by investing in yourself as a leader you are investing in your organisation as a whole.
Are you a leader or a manager?
Leadership, coaching and mentoring is about influencing people to make big things happen. Management is a process of organising people to get things done as per the systems, processes and agreements already in place. Conscious leadership and conscious management require different skills, yet are equally critical to success at work, in team sports, community groups and raising successful and happy children.
At work the key is to know which approach works best in which situation. Self-Leadership, an inside-out coaching approach, redefines and demystifies the journey to leadership. If you're ready to embark on a transformational leadership development process this is the coaching for you.

An inside-out approach to leadership is not a new concept.
Self-leadership, conscious leadership and mindful leadership are terms that are used interchangeably in social media, literature and even university promotional materials. Yet, so many people struggle to find a way to embody and master 'being' a consciously awakened leader so that she is an integral part of the shift and way forward.

The world is changing, how business is being done is shifting and what people expect from leaders and decision makers has evolved.
Leaders who are genuine guiding visionaries are being observed as the people with resilience, compassion and capacity to change business for the greater good. They are actively transforming workplaces, creating spaces where people can experience work as contributing to something meaningful and beneficial to the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of themselves and others. It is time that we say goodbye to the autocratic, narcissistic and self-centred rise to the top that thrived under the archaic patriarchy as it came at a huge cost to our Planet, her inhabitants and all life forms! |
Toxic Workplaces are being transformed by a conscious leadership movement.
Is your term now history or are you an integral part of the future?
A Conscious Leaders Coaching process is a form of vertical evolution and so it will not only develop your leadership style, but also support you to re-evaluate your personal and professional values, beliefs, and vision.
As you integrate the values of being genuine, conscious and conscientious in your leadership style you'll initiate positive and often transformational changes that ensure a conscious shift from being in a toxic to healthy workplace culture to a wiser, kinder, happier and more fulfilling work environment that's more rewarding and life enriching.
An emotionally intelligent (EI) conscious leader will rise-up to be an active contributor to changing how workplaces treat their people and to minimise the damage a workplace or business does to the Planet.
