Hello and welcome to Habitat For Success or as some say 'havachat 4 success' which I must admit has a nice ring to it too!
My name is Yvette Hughes and I'm a small business owner passionate about inspiring salubrious change in the lives of others. I do this mainly through conversational methodologies and incorporate creative experiential processes to ensure that such learnings create generative lasting change. Basically I am facilitating change one conversation at a time!
Previously I worked in the corporate sector and I loved it, or at least I did until I went to work with an executive whose style was rather abrasive and many, myself included, viewed his behaviours as bullying, yet also noted this only occurred when he was under pressure. So I needed to be mindful to keep the person seperate from his behaviours which was not so easy when present to his abuse on a daily basis and finally his borderline personality behaviours influenced my decision to change direction and for that I am forever grateful.
Thankfully I saw my departure as an opportunity to enrich my life and wanting to inspire others to embody the true art of ethical and robust leadership I decided to return to university and learn more about behavioural modelling, human conditioning, communications models, relationships and how they influence every decision made in both our personal & professional life. I love learning and so I also immersed myself in the offerings from existential theories, along with Gene Gendlin's Focusing and his Thinking at the Edge processes and numerous other ethical leadership modalities.
So I now combine my coaching, communication skills, business management and therapy qualifications with my 20+ years experience in high level corporate change facilitation roles, Operational Management positions, Leadership Roles, and Conflict Resolution interactions to facilitate processes of generative learning for existing and emerging leaders, managers and supervisors.
My experience in working with people informs me that ultimately success in all areas of life is based on the quality of our relationships, with self and with others, and as many of the great leaders throughout history have shown us authentic leadership requires a healthy relationship with self first and foremost and as such an Inside-Out approach is most useful especially if you have direct reports.
So what is the quality of your current life experiences, your relationships and your self-awareness?
How healthy is your emotional intelligence (EQ)?
What’s your life ambition, your dreams, your values?
What would your ultimate work-life balance look like to you?
Evidence shows that an Inside-Out approach to living and leading is truly powerful and empowering. Self-Leadership is a Focus-In Oriented Approach to learning how to Pause, Be Present and allow space for the unknown to Emerge. Thus offering a renewed state of being that enhances your capacity to make conscious, intentional and congruent decisions. Decisions based on what is occurring in your workplace, life and interactions, in the here-and-now moment. It is Truly Powerful Evolution!
